Stanford, Cornell, MIT, Caltech are similar in reputation to Brown but are much better engineering schools

as for the ivy leagues, cornell and princeton are the 2 that are the best at engineering, harvard, brown, dartmouth, yale have engineering but they aren’t as reputable in the engineering community as cornell or princeton

Sharjeel92, one of the things to remember as you go through your college search is that there is a difference in what engineers “perceive” to be a good school and what everyone else “perceives” to be a good school in other fields. I’m sure many few people other than engineers would consider Georgia Tech or Purdue a top 10 school.

Are there “good” engineering universities like Brown … I am not talking about the engineering ranking here … but about :-

i love the campus … i like the dorm rooms ! … the laid back atmosphere … the friendly people … helpful professors {who really want their students to do well … stated by my friend} … and excellent facilities

I liked brown mostly because of the above reasons … so again Are there “good” engineering universities like Brown

Franklin W. Olin would definitely meet your criteria

Dorm rooms: probably the nicest I’ve seen at any school in the country
Friendly/Laid back: yeah probably one of the engineering schools where people like to have fun
Helpful Professors: Constantly rated by the Princeton Review as having the best professors and most accessible professors
Best Facilities: The college was built 5-10 years ago and everything is brand new and gorgeous, the labs are amazing, everything looks great and is great

you should definitely go visit some time, I live like 10-15 minutes away and the school is amazing

Olin has a very low acceptance … so are there universities like Olin … .with a higher acceptance rate .( easier to get in ) … for matches as well as for my safeties

All in the mix … Olin …
But what abt my matches ?

and safeties … i have visited Purdue … and even though the engineering programs are excellent … NO WAY ! … i will apply there though … this is what I finally want :-

Universities with :-
Excellent or good Engineering programs (with in my reach … please except MIT , Cal tech …) .
2)An option of double major [Without any concession in the Engineering part though , a barely decent 1]
3)The overall college experience … For example … {If i am going out for a party or so … it shouldn’t cost me a lot … [I have heard about UCLA , NYU :|] } …
4)Laid Back atmosphere … OK … MIT [Students Vs faculty] … Princeton [Student Vs Student] … even though I would love to to be in an Uni that is free of such competition … at the end … i am going to study my ass off .
5)The safety and the town/city in which the uni is present should be good . I am not asking for Hollywood … or the something like Purdue … I’d say in between
6)The university should have a good reputation and should have good recruitment history and facilities for undergraduate engineers . [ I don’t mind Co-op programs]
7)The degree should be internationally recognized and respected worldwide
8)Although Money is not an issue for me … i am still considering of universities which do not cost much … as I want to save for grad school … and Dont want to put a lot of pressure on my parents … This is an Option
9)It is not necessary the dorms should be like palaces … I would prefer decent ones
10)It Should have State-of-the-art facilities … this again is one of my major concerns

I need uni’s with the above requirements in any case should not hinder the Engineering program

Please suggest universities with a mix of all my requirements … if not all at least the major 1’s - list Safeties . . and matches also

Olin is a reach. … I cant depend much on It

I Know it is a bit to long. … but bear with me … Please
Thank you

Chck ur PM … .QuasiProfound …
BUMP … i need answers … and it also depends upon ur ranl and grading sheet given by ur skool … my skool has given me 1 .

Sharjeel, Brown is nothing unique in that regard. The campus also pales in comparison to many others, but that’s not the point.

You really need a better grasp of these universities. I understand that you loved Brown when you visited, but it doesn’t really match what you’re looking for, in my opinion.

First, some stretch schools might include Stanford and Princeton. The former matches everything, and is good in IR/econ and engineering. Princeton is as well, although you can’t double-major – this hasn’t stopped everyone from psych majors to engineering majors getting jobs in politics, tech firms, investment banking firms, etc.

You should really do more research on your schools. You reasons for loving Brown are thin at best, and apply to myriad other schools.

Brown is an amazing school, even if it isn’t the best for engineering, college isn’t only about resume building. If you love Brown, please, apply.

intellectually stimulating colleges are typically the top LACs (Amherst, Swarthmore, Wesleyan (because it is quite similar to Brown)), Columbia and Chicago, especially the LACs have a really nice, tight-knitted student body.
Columbia has Fu Engineering, which is really good. Cornell has an amazing engineering programme!

Good luck!
