I am confused. My S applied to several colleges and some are sending applications for scholarships (some scholarships are offered by the individual colleges but some are through outside foundations). He has not been accepted by any of these colleges as yet and I wonder what if he expends the time on the apps with all the essays, recs, etc. then ends up not being accepted to the college. It would make more sense if he were accepted then applied for the scholarship offered by the school but in trying to keep up with the 10 colleges he applied to, his regular school work, and internship, it can develop into a stressful situation.

Hmmm, it depends on what scholarships from what schools your son was offered. For example, if you know the scholarship is selective, like the Regents' Scholarships offered by the University of California, whether you get the scholarship or not, you're accepted for sure. So some of those scholarship offers he's gotten may mean good news. Other scholarships, like the UC's alumni scholarships, are open to every applicant and...yeah, they could be fruitless efforts. I have to deal with the same thing. =/ Either way, good luck to him with juggling everything!
