So...I really like skiing, but a friend of mine told me she went to the general meeting and found it to be too party-focused...Is anyone here a member? Is it all crazy partying and very minimal actual skiing?

I knooow. I went to the first meeting and EVERYTHING was based on partying. Not that I haven’t partied before but I’m a low-key partier. I don’t drink a ton or anything and they all seemed so intimidating : / there was a BBQ today, but I didn’t go. They all seem like frat/sorority people who never joined. Idk they could be nice…I kind of want to know too.

Skiing wise, you just go up with them and then you can ski all day. they do party hard and their parties last year were packed (except they get rolled because their house is in a neighborhood)

Are u in the club?

i was in the club my freshman year, but then i stopped because I didn’t have enough time

oh okay do u party a lot? I don’t mind having shots and stuff but they seemed super in ur face type of people, and im a little on the shy side at first. How are the people and stuff? Also, i haven’t gone to any event things (like they had a bbq) but i didn’t go and i kind of want to meet people before i spend like a weekend or something with them…did u do that? or is that available? cause so far i’ve only heard of the bbq

i agree. this club seemed perfect to join when i first heard about it since i ont really know that many people that ski and are willing to go to heavenly or anything but once you actually go to meetings, its pretty much all about parties :|

are the people stuck up and stuff? is it basically sorority and frat people?

You can go skiing by yourself or with friends

They have bus stops at Berkeley, but I think the stop is on the other end of University Ave. right after the 80 entrance. If you can get there in the morning, no one will be bothering your skiing.

Woah that’s cool. Have you done this before? I don’t know if my friends would want to ski though lol and I kind of wanted to meet new people but they seem scary lol like frat/sorority people who will be all up in your face.

I do the NAC ski trips all the time. No one will breath in your face. No social hours on the bus. PPL comes from all walks of live on the bus. You mind your own business and when you get there, you just go skiing.

Do you go with anybody? I’m kind of scared to go alone, plus will people talk to u if you talk to them? Are they pretty friendly?

I am not a Berkeley student.

Yes I go with my friends, some times alone, some times meet friends on the mountain.

Yes, ppl will talk to you, but its not often. Its like take the Bart, do you speak to ppl on the Bart? Do you get scared when taking the Bart alone?

lol yeah. no jk umm idk i guess it’d be better for me to go with friends. i go on the bart with friends unless i visit family. but thanks for the site n the info.

I mean i don’t know who is in it now because I honestly haven’t spoken to them in a while, but I can’t tell you who’s gonna be in your face or not. It’s a mix of people who are down to earth and chill and others who can be pretty d-baggish. I wouldn’t suggest joining alone because I guess it is a bit intimidating (and I think people generally feel a bit more confident if they at least know one person in a big setting. Also I joined with two floormates…), but from what you’ve said, I say just find some people and go skiing.

Oh okay. Well I guess I should just go to a meeting or social that they have and meet some people first to see. I almost didn’t go to another club’s first social because I was a little afraid since I didn’t know anyone, but I was like whatever Im just going to go since I dressed up. Lol so i went and I made two friends but we don’t really hang out anymore. Is this normal? Like I make friends and then they never invite me to stuff, and if I invite them, they usually don’t come where ever. Are people normally like this at Berkeley?

I have a question for those of you who’ve used the NAC or Bay Area Ski Bus. If I don’t have a car, what’s the best way to get to the pick-up spot on time? I looked at NAC, and there’s a pick-up point at El Cerrito near a BART stop but the earliest BART would arrive at 6:31 am and the pick-up is at 6:35 am. This feels a bit close for comfort.

webhappy

to a student, that is the problem. you need a car, either you or your friends, to get there. even it is very close, but it is not in the walking distance.

Just take a cab.

great idea, its going to cost you some more money.

squaw is better, but you have to get up 1 hour early, I hate NS…
