Is it possible to join a college football (soccer) or tennis teams after you enroll? I've excelled in these sports but was never able to play on a team. School doesn't have any junior varsity or varsity sports teams. How difficult is it if a school is notorious for being horrible at that sport?

contact the coach for any and all information. D3 schools usually hold tryouts at the beginning of the season, and there are usually possibilities to join the team as a walkon.

Did you ever play on a non-school team (in our area it's called select or club or travel soccer) ? Even at the D3 level a lot of players will have had extensive team experience.

Don't let that discourage you , though--definitely go to tryouts. Also, a lot of schools field club-level teams ( a step down from the official school team) that also play other schools., and most schools also have extensive intramural teams that you could play on by just showing up at the rec center and signing up.

So don't worry--you'll definitely have a chance to play !

There's always intramurals (or is it intermurals) too

well intra means within, and inter means among, so intramural is the "everyone can play" leagues within the school, and technically intermural is called "intercollegiate"
