Really curious about this question; there's much talk about "college students getting wasted every weekend" and other things. I'd like to know how true this notion actually is among my cohorts in reality.

So, if you're of legal age to drink (I live in Canada, so our legal age here is 19), and either currently in college or just graduated recently, how frequently do you drink alcohol (and how much)? Two drinks everyday? Never/abstaining? Etc...?

"One" drink will be defined as:
Beer: 12 fluid ounces (355 milliliters)
Wine: 5 fluid ounces (148 milliliters)
Distilled spirits (80 proof): 1.5 fluid ounces (44 milliliters)

May I ask why you’ve limited the parameters to legal drinking? A lot (if not most) of the drinking that takes place on college campuses is among underaged students.

I think it varies from person to person. I didn’t start drinking until I was 19, and I only drank if I went to a party (which was once every couple of months, if that). I found that by the time my friends and I hit 21, we stopped drinking to get drunk. Every weekend we’d either go out or hang out at someone’s apartment, but the goal was never to get drunk (at least for me). I just was there to socialize and hang out with my friends. If I had down time on week nights I would drink a glass or two of wine.

I casually drink a couple times a week, and go hard every couple week nods or so. Usually it’s just an occasional glass of wine in the evening to relax, a Margarita on trivia night, or a beer with friends while playing music.

I don’t party every weekend, probably ever other weekend or every third weekend. The way I see it, if I’m caught up on all my work and don’t have something important coming up to work on/study for, I need to let loose once in a while. It took me a while to learn that, honestly.

I casually drink am average of few times to a month, but I often have months where I don’t drink at all or drink more like five or six times. I don’t live on campus, though (it’s a CC), I don’t socialize outside campus, go out with friends/go to friends houses, or attend parties, so my drinking has nothing to do with peer pressure or partying. Probably part of why I don’t drink overly much. I started school at 22, so I’ve never been around the whole underage drinking issue.

I’m 19 at a traditional college campus. Greek life is huge here and partying is pretty much endless. Unfortunately, I don’t drink due to personal reasons (family experience, my addiction to health/fitness, etc…) so I don’t really enjoy my time here. Thinking of transferring somewhere where the Greek system isn’t so prominent. Not that I hate people that drink (I don’t, I could care less as long as I’m not pressured), but in this type of atmosphere you are looked down on if you don’t go Greek or party hard.
