College stuff..

Hey this might not sound important but how is the food at your school? Is it buffet styled? It adds another dimension to my current search. Thanks for any responses in advance.

Only tasteless fast-food, which is not healthy at all. I started cooking myself since the start of the 2nd year.

At Texas Tech. I heard the food was at least decent.

^
Yes. For a few months it was okay; but it is very overpriced. I paid 12-15$ per lunch.

In my case, the situation is slightly different because I am a bodybuilder (amateur) and I have to eat 5-6 meals per day. I cannot afford eating fast food all year round.

Thanks. That helps out. I’m looking to gain more mass for football and the right food is a must.

Our dining commons are buffet style, and the food is okay…amazing initially, but it lost its novelty around winter quarter. It’s better than at other schools, according to my friends who were visiting (one from UC Berkeley, one from Cal Poly SLO). I don’t personally have a comparison, so I can’t say in that regard.

School? Is it repetitive?

Exactly. You can also considering buying Protein Powder. It’s pretty cheap, and can be a good meal too, if you’re short on time (in between of classes, for ex.); for example, protein powder (23g)+banana (or any other fruit).

Thanks. I have some whey but I wasn’t sure it really worked.

It may depend on a brand, but even a cheapest should still work. Just remember to never use protein shake without any food. Absorption is greatly increased if you eat something small with it (fruit, bar, etc).

P.S. IMHO protein shake doesn’t really give you mass. I personally, run lots of “juice” and “gear” in addition to protein shakes.

Alright. What about creatine?

There are two types of creatine; first is creatine monohydrate and the second one, is creatine ethyl ester. I prefer the latter (CEE), for a few reasons: (1) maximum absorption, (2) bigger pump. Just buy CEE capsules; they usually come in 240 capsules @ 6 capsules per day; although, CEE powder will work equally good.

Great. I’ll order some.

We have a dining common that is buffet style and a student union that has fast food stuff like Taco Bell, a pizza place, Panda Express, sushi, Starbucks, Bagels, etc. We also have a lot of restaurants within walking distance all around campus. The dining common is for those who have a meal plan/pay to get in. The food isn’t amazing. I would much rather just buy fast food.

At my old school, we had a DC with buffet style (no good at all) and a student union with some ‘fast food’ things. They weren’t like well-known places like Taco Bell or Chipotle or anything, but you could order a sandwich, burrito, or burger to be made and buy it like that.

UC Davis. Yeah, one of the main complaints is that they cycle their food so much. Sure the food is decent/okay (depending on who you ask), but you’re getting the same things every couple weeks.

I’m sure that’s fairly common.

I know it is. That’s the main complaint that people have at my school, though.

We have several dining halls; three are buffet-style and two are pay-by-item. Starting this morning I’m trying to eat more frequently and less each time to lose weight, and the buffet setup is not to my liking for such a goal.
