Dear All,

My friend's son needs suggestion for college selection - his school counselor wants a list by Sept 24, end of this week. Any help is appreciated.

profile:
- SAT 2150 (math 760, reading 670, writing 720)
- GPA: 4.0/4.5
- competitive basketball player at his highschool, his coach has been linking him up with college coaches (i.e. he plays well)

wants:
- continue to play competitive basketball
- school with good business-related programs: econ, math, finance
- good to be relatively close to greater NY area but open minded

Thank you very much!

I assume that you mean Div 3 basketball. If he is not being recruited now by D1 and D2 scholarship programs, then he probably will not be.

Here is a listing of D3 programs, you can find them by state. Find those in/near NY and then investigate further by using US News, Fiske Guide, college websites, etc.

If he really wants schools with undergraduate business courses (accounting, marketing etc.), that eliminates a lot of liberal arts schools which is kind of a shame. With a 1430 (math + verbal) and a 4.0 he might be able to get into Bowdoin which is Division III and a great school. Muhlenberg in Penn. has more business-oriented courses but is not as prestigious. Wesleyan and Trinity might be good choices which are not too far from NY (2 hours?) but I don’t think they have business. If he is happy with economics there are lots of choices.

Thanks to you both. Yes Div 3. Will go through the list of schools.
