Hey there! Im an international student applying for admission to the class of 2016, undergraduate studies.

Im looking to pursue an economics degree with an emphasis on finance. Most economics degrees offered tend to be more theoretical and I find myself leaning towards the more practical approach, Id be interested in learning about accounting, investments and banking in addition to economic theories. (probably pursuing a professional qualification later, and seeking to work in the Asian region)

However I chose the US because of my other academic interests, such as political science, international relations, religious studies and foreign languages. A UK education would deprive me of the practical yet enlightening approach Im looking for. A study abroad stint would be great too.

I was wondering if you guys could suggest any private universities (I need a fair bit of aid, but not full ride) that fit these criteria. The ones Im currently looking at are claremont mckenna college, occidental, rice, georgetown, tufts, vassar, vandy and a few Ivies. Are there any less selective schools that fit the bill?

*I would like to avoid the cold weather too if possible (Carleton is amazing but Ill freeze to death there), and campus diversity is of utmost importance to me. Im more liberal if that says anything, but not to the point of alternative hip. Id prefer more ambitious and career driven students around. (but still enjoy alternative academic interests) and Im not too impressed by the idea of frats too, but not totally put off by them though.

Also will attending a school in rural areas affect ones chance of obtaining business related internships? Thats probably one of the reasons Im staying away from a few schools I think are amazing, but sadly are placed in rural areas. Any insights?

Thanks a bunch guys!
