Any suggestions for a school that is very prestigious, preferably not too far from a city, has a nice campus (one that feels like it’s own oasis/bubble, where on campus as opposed to off campus is distinct), and has cool/fun traditions/a sense of community?
What are you planning on studying?
At the moment (I’m a junior) I’m essentially undecided, which is why I, sadly, am kind of relying on prestige. I was hoping to keep my options open in terms of major by going somewhere that offers a large array of majors and is generally regarded as being a good school overall; but, I suppose at the moment I am most interested in political science and government or maybe economics.
What state are you in? How much can your parents pay for school? What are your stats (SAT/ACT, GPA)? People can help you better if they know a little more about you.
What are your stats (GPA, SAT/ACT scores, AP/IB…?)
What’s your parents’ budget? Can they pay their EFC? Will you need financial aid or merit aid?
I’m ranked first in my class of 300 at an urban public in MA (GPA is a 4.7 right now, but will most likely get higher with more AP classes), I’m white, I’m female, I will take the SAT in March but I am hoping to get an analogous or higher score on it as I did on my PSAT (233), I founded my high school’s only a cappella group, was in the green club for two years, the musical for three years, and a chorus outside of my school for ten years, I have done some community service, and I intend to get an internship in politics over the summer (the past three summers I have spent at JHU’s CTY intensive studies). As for my economic situation, my family makes a decent amount of money so I don’t think we consider money a large factor in terms of where I decide to go (although, a school like Harvard with an enormous endowment and generous aid wouldn’t be a bad thing, especially with my sister and me in college at the same time–we might qualify for some aid given that).
HYP, Tufts, Georgetown, the top 10-20 LACs. Are you looking for match and safety suggestions that’d be a bit off the beaten path?
Thanks, and if you have some off the beaten path ideas, sure, I’m open to suggestions
Check out Macalester, Goucher, UMaryland (for Honors), Hobart&William Smith, the women’s colleges (if you’re a girl), Occidental.
What you’re looking for exactly is Stanford. It is a PERFECT fit for you. It fits everything you said everyone who looks there loves it. The problem is that you can have the amazing stats that you have and still be rejected. Consider their restrictive early action option. You will not regret it!!
