College suggestions?

Hi CCers! I'm currently a sophomore (rising junior) and I'm beginning to research different colleges and trying to plan some trips this summer/fall with my family. I'd greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions. I apologize for a lack of SAT I/SAT II scores -- I took them for the first time in June. I know it makes this difficult to put my chances into perspective, but I'd appreciate any sort of advice. I didn't want to make this a chances thread but rather a thread for suggestions for colleges to research. Thanks!

Caucasian Female, PA
UW GPA: Approximately 3.95, Only Sophomore year: 4.0 -- School doesn't weight
Ranked in the top 5-10%

What I'm looking for in a college:
--School Pride is definitely desirable (my current HS is somewhat lacking in this department)... a strong alumni network is desirable
--I'm Catholic, and I'd like to join some sort of network in college; whether it in fact is a religious school or have some sort of support group (i.e., Campus Crusade for Christ)
--Safety is a big deal for me; I definitely need to feel secure on campus
--I'd prefer to have a college with an actual campus
--A campus on the East Coast (I'll be a first generation student to go to college in America, so staying close with my immediate family is important to me)
--Greek Life isn't a big deal to me
--I want to major in Secondary Mathematics Education as well as Kinesiology so that I can become a High School Trainer/Coach
--I'd prefer a medium size school which is bigger than a few thousand students (I want to leave my comfort zone) but smaller, than say PSU (~40,000)

I realize it’s hard to judge without any solid scores, and I do apologize. Thanks again!

The thing in your way is size...not too many "campusy" top schools on the east coast with more than 10K undergrads.

Ithaca, Syracuse, DeSales, east Stroudsburg, U Scranton, West Chester

Are you sure you have to have kinesiology? That's uncommon.

If you're looking for a really good Roman Catholic school, than may I suggest looking into Georgetown in Washington, D.C.

I can't really tell what your chances are without any test scores though.

Believe me... I'm having the same problem too! Very frustrating -- oh well, they'll come soon enough. Thanks for the responses!

i would say Syarcuse, Michigan, Boston, those types of schools. But calm down..u still have plenty of time to find out what you really want. Try going to a summer program next summer or visiting. that gives you a heads up on everyone else.

i'll beat par72 to the punch- holy cross (except the surrounding town isnt very nice)
boston college sounds perfect
providence college would probably be a safety
bigger schools would definitely have a wide variety of religious groups for you to be a part of: uconn, maryland, delaware

No -- it doesn't have to be kinesiology.. Athletic training/exercise science/etc. would be fine as minors.

Thank you very much response.. Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated!

For school spirit you'll probably want to look at Big East, SEC, and ACC schools.

Boston University
Miami University (Ohio)
Syracuse University
University of Delaware

Cornell, URochester, TCNJ.

Also look at Holy Cross, Boston College, Villanova, Loyola College of Maryland, and Providence College. Good luck!
