college suggestions

Moi!
Could you suggest some Universities at which I could look!
[Regardless of my GPA/ACT/SAT/Extracurriculars]

I want to double major in Broadcast Journalism [or something similar] and philosophy. I want to minor in some language. I'm not sure which one yet so I want a wealth of options

I'm not opposed to attending a women's college

I LOVE small class sizes

I want to talk to my professors [maybe have kahvi with them after class - you get the point]

I don't want a college environment that sufficates me because it's too small

I don't want to get lost at a huge university

I want to be around people who also like learning

I want to be near or in a city [I think], but this is of less importance to me

I NEED a good study abroad program

I want internship opportunities [at local TV stations or whatever]

a pretty campus would be a plus =]

I don't want to attend a party school, but I'm not opposed to an occasional party

I don't want to attend a school with a huge focus on fraternities and sororities

I just want to go to class in whatever and not have people judge me

I don't want a college with many core requirements. I hate science and want to take as little courses as possible.

I feel like this is too specific; but don't worry, I know that one specific college isn't going to meet all of what I want =]

kiitos.

i’ll throw out the names Smith and Wellesley. for language and study abroad, of course i suggest Dartmouth, but you’ll have to weigh that against the huge greek scene. just know that there are many Dartmouth students who don’t really like greek life but still enjoy social lives there.

you don’t give any indications to your stats, but some smaller schools in urban or suburban locations that offer a major in journalism/mass communications and has a philosophy department:

American
Claremont McKenna
Elon
Goucher
Hofstra
Northwestern
Tulane
Vassar

Ithaca but its rural
Emerson is fantastic for broadcast journalism/mass communications, but has limited departments (no philosophy)

I second Smith College. Smith is a wonderful place and is known for small classes, academic excellence, terrific advising and mentoring, and available, committed professors. It has an open curriculum, and students have many opportunities to get to know faculty well.

Smith is in a safe and vibrant area. There is a very strong alumni network, and Smith offers solid internship opportunities. Through Smith’s PRAXIS program, every student is provided with a stipend for an internship.

Also, Smith is part of a 5-college consortium (with Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke and Univ Mass). You can take classes at any, and there is a free shuttle bus to get to classes and activities at the other campuses.

BTW, Smith no longer requires SAT or ACT scores for US applicants.
