Hey everyone. I'm a junior in high school and am beginning to look at colleges. I'm from MA. I have around a 3.75 GPA... I'm not sure of my weighted GPA, though I have taken all honors courses possible and will have taken 5 AP classes by the time I graduate. My class rank is 7/186 (top 5%). I have decent ECs (soccer, lacrosse, Spanish club, yearbook, lots of volunteering). Here's what I'm looking for:

-Large school with school spirit and D1 sports
-Warm climate
-Suburban
-Good academics, but not extremely competitive
Some schools I'm interested in: FSU, UF, UGA, UMiami, could you suggest more?

Also - I visited the University of Miami last April and loved it! If I keep up my grades would you consider this a match? Reach?

I’m glad you visited U Miami as that is one that I would’ve suggested.

Also, have you looked at Tulane? The sports scene is not nearly as dynamic, but the school (and New Orleans!) are a ton of fun. And the school is very, very underrated on CC and elsewhere.

ais,
I hope you notice that the range of selectivity suggested here is quite broad. That’s not a reflection on you, but on how difficult it has become to get into many colleges. OHKID’s comment about the SAT and ACT is on the money as this will go a long way to determining your odds of admission. So also will your school’s profile and its record of sending kids to top colleges. But I do think you would be smart to look into the Honors programs at many of the suggested colleges, several of which offer attractive financial incentives to high-scoring applicants.
