College Suggestions?

Hey everyone. I'm a junior in high school and am beginning to look at colleges. I'm from MA. I have around a 3.75 GPA... I'm not sure of my weighted GPA, though I have taken all honors courses possible and will have taken 5 AP classes by the time I graduate. My class rank is 7/186 (top 5%). I have decent ECs (soccer, lacrosse, Spanish club, yearbook, lots of volunteering). Here's what I'm looking for:

-Large school with school spirit and D1 sports
-Warm climate
-Suburban
-Good academics, but not extremely competitive
Some schools I'm interested in: FSU, UF, UGA, UMiami, could you suggest more?

Also - I visited the University of Miami last April and loved it! If I keep up my grades would you consider this a match? Reach?

Emory, Vanderbilt, Duke, UVA.

I’m glad you visited U Miami as that is one that I would’ve suggested.

Also, have you looked at Tulane? The sports scene is not nearly as dynamic, but the school (and New Orleans!) are a ton of fun. And the school is very, very underrated on CC and elsewhere.

You need to take the ACT and SAT NOW!!!

What is your major?

Anyways, try UGA, U Alabama, LSU, UT-Austin (keep in the top 10% if you do like this place) Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.

UNC-Chapel Hill, for sure. Some of the best sports around, and great academics to boot.

ais,
I hope you notice that the range of selectivity suggested here is quite broad. That’s not a reflection on you, but on how difficult it has become to get into many colleges. OHKID’s comment about the SAT and ACT is on the money as this will go a long way to determining your odds of admission. So also will your school’s profile and its record of sending kids to top colleges. But I do think you would be smart to look into the Honors programs at many of the suggested colleges, several of which offer attractive financial incentives to high-scoring applicants.

<<<<<<<<

OHkid is right.

Take your ACT & SAT as soon as you can (do both). Then work on weak areas.

Is money an issue? If it is, do you know what your family’s EFC is? If you don’t know their EFC, do you know their approx income?

'You may need Merit $$.

What is your home state?

Clemson!!!

If I were in your shoes. UTexas-Austin. Great academics, athletics, school pride, food. :)

Mizzou, but you would have a find a niche there. I agree with OHKID- what’s your major?

You are a fine Miami candidate. Target ACC, SEC and Arizona/ASU
