My question is this: do I need to submit the Common Application and the supplemental essays all together, or can I just submit the main part of the Common App and submit the extra stuff like teacher recommendations and supplements later? Does it all go in one package?
Thanks!

You can submit your common app and supplements separately. I recommend sending the common app first then the supplement and do each school one at a time so you can keep track. Once the supplement goes you cannot change it. Once the first common app goes, you cannot change it though you can make separate versions if need be.

You put in your teacher’s names on that part of the common app that asks for them. The recs do not get sent until after you pay your fee and submit your common app.

The teacher recs are then sent to the school without you doing anything. They are selected to go because you assigned that teacher’s name.

That, you should have already done.

You can submit separately, but I recommend doing it together. You never know if you do something on the Supplement, and want to make a change on the main app for that school. If you have already submitted the main app, then you can’t.

I understand what Operadad means. If you havn’t already asked your teachers to do your rec and emailed from the common ap you need to get hopping.

You want to submit your common app for a school and supp together because incredibly, I have read here on cc where a student sent their supplement but never sent their common app because they lost track. So the deadline passed and there was nothing they could do.
