College Survey

  1. I went to our local community college, then St. Johns University in Jamaica NY. I took no time off, and graduated (with a job in hand) 4 years after graduating from high school. I went to CC because it made economic sense, and to St. Johns because they were (relatively) affordable, had a good School of Education, and, honestly, because that's where everyone I knew was headed.

  3. I finished with a 3.8. I forget the details-- I graduated high school in 1976, so it's been a while. But I'm sure I could have done better.

4 Nope… My mom says I knew in 2nd grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I decided on math in high school, in spite of having mostly abysmal math teachers.

  1. I brought them with me from teh part time job I worked from age 16 until I began teaching. We worked together, commuted to school together, vacationed together... There were about 10 of us in the crowd.

  3. We were making lots of money in the restaurant. We saw Broadway plays, rented a summer house in the Hamptons and a ski house up at Hunter, went out to eat a lot, went to concerts... It was a wonderful time in my life.
