- I went to our local community college, then St. Johns University in Jamaica NY. I took no time off, and graduated (with a job in hand) 4 years after graduating from high school. I went to CC because it made economic sense, and to St. Johns because they were (relatively) affordable, had a good School of Education, and, honestly, because that's where everyone I knew was headed.

- I finished with a 3.8. I forget the details-- I graduated high school in 1976, so it's been a while. But I'm sure I could have done better.
4 Nope… My mom says I knew in 2nd grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I decided on math in high school, in spite of having mostly abysmal math teachers.
- I brought them with me from teh part time job I worked from age 16 until I began teaching. We worked together, commuted to school together, vacationed together... There were about 10 of us in the crowd.

- We were making lots of money in the restaurant. We saw Broadway plays, rented a summer house in the Hamptons and a ski house up at Hunter, went out to eat a lot, went to concerts... It was a wonderful time in my life.
