College Sweatshirt Sizing

Hello all, this will my first post, but there is many more to come! Just found the site-- love it!

Anyways, I chose to go to SUNY Albany. I currently live in San Diego, California. I wanted to get a sweatshirt online. I don't like any of the women's sweatshirts I have found, so I was wondering if any of the parents had bought any and could tell me how they run? I am specifically looking at Jansport brand. I am a smaller girl, and was wondering if ALL men's sizes would be too big for me, or if a small/medium would work?

Thanks!!

Hey! Umm random I'm from San Diego too haha and I'm not a parent. BUT, I have bought Jansport sweatshirts from various colleges in the past, and the men's/unisex smalls work fine for me.

I'm about 5'7, 128, in case you were wondering...so I think a small should be fine. If it's a little big, either shrink or return it.

Good luck!

Definitely go for a small or extra small if they have it. A small will probably be a bit big on you, but it's not like sweatshirts are formalwear. :)

My daughter is 5'9" and thin and the men's small fit her fine. If you are 5'3" or shorter and thin, you could definitely consider a boys XL.

In my experience, the Jansport brand does shrink a little (not as bad as Champion, but in my house the SUNY sweatshirts get smaller every time I do laundry...). I wish SUNY would either sell Nike/Reebok or logos that you could sew on your own clothing. It's surprising to me that as big as the SUNY system is, they don't offer better clothing options. My kid at SUNY Buffalo isn't a standard size, and the Jansport and Champion products at the bookstore don't completely work. Heaven only knows how the football and basketball players get tees and sweatshirts...

Consider getting an extra-large kids size -- they are considerably cheaper than adult sizes.

They probably wear Nike, adidas, etc rather than what's sold in the bookstore. At SEMO, the basketball teams wear Nike, football wears New Balance, baseball team wears Mizuno mainly, and the softball, volleyball, soccer, and track teams wear adidas. The bookstore sells Russell Athletic (great stuff) and Jansport mainly. No Nike or adidas apparel sold in the bookstore :(

Thanks all! Gosh, I'm stuck in a rut now I guess. I really wanted one with the appliqued logo, but they ONLY have a MENS medium..hmm...i suppose i'll pick a different sweatshirt!
Thanks a bunch, everyone!

Go ahead and buy the man's medium with the applique that you wanted! It will shrink a little. It will be cold in Albany, and you'll wear it even if it's a little large...plus you'll find that you can never have enough hoodies over the next few years!!!
