Im an incoming freshman. When ordering from the UC Davis site for textbooks, do they ship it to your home? because when i registered for an account, it asked me for a shipping address, should i put my home one? or the address they gave me for my housing assignment? is there any way we can order it then pick it up at the school when we arrive?

also does anyone know any good alternative sites for textbook ordering, that are legitimate and wont scam me?

I got my textbooks from half.com, textbooks.com, and amazon. I ordered them all on the same day as I ordered my chem book from the UCD bookstore. and all my books arrived on the exact same day. I bought them all used, but they looked brand spankin new, EXCEPT for the one I got from the UCD bookstore- I looks very trashy and has tape all over the front and back covers. It’s disappointing because it was atleast three times the price I got my other books for. Anyways, those sites are really good for getting books.
Also, you can rent books from chegg.com for really good prices- only downside is that you can’t write in them.

wow, thanks! i checked half and amazon, and their prices weren’t that great compared to the uc davis bookstore, and they included shipping and all that.

chegg.com seems to be a good one. Do you know how long a calculus book is needed for? 3 quarters, since it’s math 21 A B and C? do they use the same book for all three of those classes? does that mean i should rent for 3 quarters, or would it be better to buy for that one?

koofer s (dot)com has a good way of checking which place is best to buy your books from for the cheapest. I used it this semester, saved a good amount of $$.

I was going to order my textbooks after Pass 2, but since Sisweb is unavailable till Tues… is there any other way I can check which textbooks I need to order? Or do ya think I’ll be ok to wait till then?

If you absolutely must order now, check out [DavisText.com - UC Davis](http://www.davistext.com/) to see what books you need for Fall quarter. It doesn’t really matter when you purchase the textbook… except demand tends to peak the closer it is to school starting :]
