college that gives out full scholarship to international student

i'm an exchange from Bangladesh in the US this year. I intend to come back here for college, but I nees to be sponsored or have a 100% scholarship. But the problem is I've 3 years of high school at home and 1 year in the US and my school at HOme is probably not gonna accept any credit from my high school year in USA. What do have to do in order to get into a college in USA in the year 2013??

Srishty, there is a posting like yours almost every week on College Confidential.

Please know that times have changed. For sixty years, international students have added important richness and diversity to American campuses.

We are currently in an economic meltdown. In my state, we had a 2 billion dollar shortfall last year, resulting in a 13% tuition hike for college students. We are looking at another state shortfall of 2 billion this winter with more college tuition hikes likely. What this means is that colleges are in desperate shape – there just isn’t money for our OWN students, much less internationals.

College admissions officers are still offering spots to international students --to those princes and princesses who can pay full price! (Many full price students make it possible to support some local kids).

You might have some luck at a private college (if you are a top student or athlete). But you definitely need a back up plan. You might consider earning your degree at home or nearby – and then seeing if a US graduate degree is possible in a few years.

I know this is not what you want to hear – but I will be extremely surprised if you can swing a full sponsored college ride at this time. You might try an internet search for “best endowed colleges” – Swarthmore and Grinnell come to mind. Please know that it is a very, very tough time in America.

There is a whole section of this website dedicated to International Students. I think you will find useful information there.

True…maybe we need to be encouraging American students to be applying for “full rides” at the schools in all these int’l students’ countries. ;)
