My daughter is a high school soph., and a B student. She will not qualify for an Ivy League school, but she wants to go to a college or university that looks like Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. You know the look - old stone or brick buildings, lots of big trees. Are there schools that accept B students that have that look?

Lehigh is absolutley beautiful, check out their website. But it is also competitive, so a “B” average might not due.

Trinity in Connecticut has the Gothic stone look - but, again, a B average probably won’t cut it.

BTW, imo, Harvard does not look like Princeton at all. Harvard is much more in the Georgian red-brick style. If she wants that look, lots of schools look like that, including many state schools. UNH comes to mind.

Check out Guilford in North Carolina. Beautiful campus in the style your daughter imagines. I’m sure you’re encourage her to look beyond the facade, though!

She’s got time to change her mind. I thought Franklin and Marshall looked a bit like a mini-Harvard when my kid went to camp there. Union college has a lot of older red brick buildings but also has this really funky one: [Union College - The Nott Memorial - Schenectady NY | Flickr - Photo Sharing!](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■/photos/vanstermonster/1573002317/#/photos/vanstermonster/1573002317/lightbox/)

If you are looking for a more collegiate gothic look there is a good list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collegiate_Gothic_in_North_America

Isn’t that funny…my daughter HATED those red brick buildings. U of Richmond has them too…so does Wake Forest. BUT again…3.0…might not be in the range…depending on SAT/ACT scores.

If you want both the red brick and the old stone look, the University of Missouri has both a “red” and “white” portion of campus and the entire campus is a designated botanical gardens.

several New York City colleges come to mind, including, Brooklyn College, City University and, Wagner College on Staten Island. they are predominantly commuter schools, however. And, there are a ton of small, LACs south of the Mason-Dixon line, including Randolph-Macon, Hollins and Sweet Briar, that are very pretty.

Lynchburg College, Randolph College, and Roanoke all have very nice older campuses in quaint old southern cities. A solid B is competitive to get in and all offer a good education for the money with decent fin iad–especially Randolph which recently went coed, has lots of money and needs to rebuild the student body.

Sewanee-University of the South. Gothic (VERY! about as “collegiate” as they come), not red-brick.

Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, NJ
and if you child studies here, then she will be able to participate in the study abroad program in England at Wroxton College. I don’t think there is a prettier campus anywhere. You can see it here: [Wroxton College :: Fairleigh Dickinson University](http://view.fdu.edu/default.aspx?id=326)

Anther beautiful campus is Drew University in NJ. Both FDU and Drew were designed by the same architect. They are both quite picturesque and are great schools.

Like catie33 said, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Guilford.

Gettysburg looks like the picture postcard of a college.

College of Charleston is very charming – also reasonably priced and not as selective as some other schools with pretty campuses. :)

Mills College in Oakland is also very pretty.
