I know there won't be too many names here, but could you name a few colleges or universities (other than the need blind schools. Any tier) that might offer full financial aid/full scholarship to a qualified international student?

Williams
Princeton
Harvard
Dartmouth
Amherst
MIT
These are some of need blind institutions of USA

I mentioned “other than the need blind schools”. Thanks anyway though.

Stanford, Swarthmore (not need blind for internationals, but can be very generous if they want to)

I’ve never heard of any universities offering non need based full scholarships for internationals.

Many liberal arts colleges. Colby, Washington n Lee,…

The aid is need based even at non-need-blinds schools. They will be less likely to admit you if you need a lot of aid, but if they do admit you, and really want you to attend, they can make it possible.

Perhaps a few lower tier ones?

Have you asked this question in the International Student Forum or in the Financial Aid Forum? Have you discussed this with the counselors at your local office of EducationUSA? To find one see [EducationUSA - Find an Advising Center](http://www.educationusa.info/centers.php)

Yes, there are places with some money for international students. However, very, very, very few places offer full support. There are so many well qualified international applicants chasing such a small amount of money, that the competition for that money even at lower tier institutions is fierce.

You need to find out how much money your family is able and willing to pay for a US education. If there aren’t any institutions here that are that inexpensive, you need to look at options in other countries.

There’s no indication that Colby offers any non need based scholarships for internationals. Colby’s financial aid site says: “All of the Colleges several hundred grant funds are awarded on the basis of need,”

Washington & Lee does consider internationals for its full non-need based merit scholarships (Johnson Scholars).

Most schools in the US are need blind.

What is it that you want?

Need blind and meets need?

Or schools that give merit aid to int’ls?

I am aware of the need-blind schools. I just wanna know about the other colleges that might offer full aid (need based or merit based) to internationals.

I don’t think this is true in general, and it is definitely not true for internationals.

Need blind means the schools don’t consider students’ finances as admission factors. Still, schools can be need blind yet not promise to meet 100% of students’ demonstrated need.

Being need blind has nothing to do with schools’ financial aid policies.

Which are the schools that could meet an international student’s 100% need?

I know Dartmouth does since it was stressed at the info session we attended.

instud, I think you’re discovering the reality that the FEW schools willing to meet 100% of a student’s need are also the top tier, highly competitive colleges that attract the very hottest candidates. The reality of studying in the US is that you either have to have a lot of money or be a truly outstanding, highly promising student.

As I said, you can get need-based (full if your contribution is 0) financial aid as international students if you apply for Liberal arts colleges. They are very generous to international students. Google liberal arts college list and you can see many schools there. Go to their websites and research. Good luck

**Most schools in the US are need blind.

I don’t think this is true in general, and it is definitely not true for internationals. *

It is true in general. Most schools in the US admit students without concern about whether you can pay or not. That’s why most schools don’t meet need and often gap.

But… not so true for int’ls. Int’ls need to show funding to get visas. And, of the schools that give aid to int’ls, some are very need aware.

Which are the schools that could meet an international student’s 100% need?

That’s a hard question to answer.

Only a small number promise to meet 100% of need for int’ls…like Harvard, Yale, Princeton and a few others.

But, if an int’l has small need, then those schools that only give small amounts of aid could meet need (since need is small.)

First and foremost, to my knowledge, international students, those who are academically brilliant are quite sure about their school search and will not compromise on the quality/brand value, for an American education, just because the college/university is offering generous financial aid.

Rest assured, unless you are outstanding in one of the non-academic fields, apart from being a good student, the chance of getting 100% aid is remote!
