Hi,
I'm posting on behalf of a student. She's interested in photography and political science/IR as majors (or minor in Photography, major in Political Science). She has a thorough Art history background with a focus on photography (including an interdiciplinary independent study project) a 4.0 in a good IB program, no SAT yet. However she thinks it's not possible to minor/major in photography at a women's college, which prevents her from looking into them.
I've looked and I can find Studio Art majors but not Photography, even as a minor. Do you know of any women's college that would have political science and photography?
Thanks!

She can study photography at Smith. It’s one of the concentrations in the Studio Art major. They have both black & white and color darkrooms as well as a digital imaging center. Both government and art are among the most popular majors there.

Thank you, I’ll tell her to look into it!
Any other women’s colleges where there is a concentration or minor in photography?

Wellesley also puts photography as a sub-discipline under the umbrella of Studio Art. I think a lot of colleges do this.

At Bryn Mawr, art is one of the disciplines we share with Haverford - History of Art is only offered at Bryn Mawr, while Studio Art is available at Haverford. We have a seamless course registration progress (students from both campuses use the same website), and a free bus system takes students back and forth every 15 minutes. I have friends who have majored in Studio Art at Haverford and had really great experiences. The professor who runs the photography program is incredibly talented and has increased Bryn Mawr + Haverford’s photography archive tremendously.
Scripps also offers photography as a concentration in the Art major.

The professors in the Art program are incredible and there are some really exciting off-campus study opportunities. Seniors get their own studio with 24-hour swipe card access, so they can work on their culminating project whenever inspiration strikes.
