Are there any websites that show colleges by geography and the travel distances and routes between them? I was able to go on Google to create a map with locators for the colleges I am interested in. What I would like to do as a next step is to figure out the best route. I guess I can figure it out, but I'd love to be able to press a button and see the route that minimizes travel. Any suggestions?

I've seen recommendations by other CC posters for this one, although I've never used it.
Hedberg Maps, Inc. - Custom College, City, Regional and Specialty Maps

I would love a web site like that as well!
We are going to Bryn Mawr and Muehlenburg - ay suggestions of B&B's or the like in the area? Or some where to stay that would work for both? Definitely don't want to pay Philly hotel prices!

You can use mapquest and have up to 10 "stops" on your journey.

MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

In 2 weeks, we are doing a Florida college road trip and using mapquest.

Fort Lauderdale
Boca Raton
Naples
Fort Myers
Tampa
Tallahassee
Gainesville
Ocala
Orlando
Fort Lauderdale

That's our trip route. In mapquest, enter the college name and City/State. It also helped us calculate total miles so we can figure out how much gas we'll be using. ;)

overwhelmedma,
If you want a taste of the Lehigh Valley, stay at the Hotel Bethlehem in downtown Bethlehem. Granted, it's across from Moravian College but it's the best location in the area, and imho, better then the cookie cutter hotels in Allentown. It's not too far a drive to Bryn Mawr from there.

Rand McNally, Rand McNally - Maps, Driving Directions, Travel Store and AAA, www.aaa.com redirect, also have online driving direction tools that give you detailed directions, mileage, and estimated travel times. The results aren't always the same as Mapquest, so if I have time I try to run all three and choose my best option. AAA has the added advantage if you're a AAA member of including lodging and restaurant options along your route.

The map that patsmom recommended is a great map, not so much for the exact distance info, but it shows allthe nearby colleges, in case there is one you hadn't thought about, as well as information about each of the colleges on the back of the map. I LOVE this map!!

The Professor Pathfinders map referenced by patsmom has helped me through two college road trips. I then use Google maps for more exact directions.

I found this book very helpful both for preplanning and while on the road.

"Visiting College Campuses, 7th Edition (College Admissions Guides) (Paperback)"

Gives driving instructions, distances from campus to campus, places to stay and basic information. Though not as thorough or up to date accurate as the web [you should always reconfirm days and times for tours and info sessions as these constantly change] you can take it with you and consult as you go.

Also, don't hesitate to ask for advise on your next stop when you're visiting. Colleges are aware that you will be seeing other campuses in the area and are happy to help.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

This year's Common App has a new function which will show you a map of individual colleges, and other colleges in the area. It is free once you register.

This is all great advice.. Thanks
