University of Oregon- this school is the reason I went to Oregon and a month later I’m still a little unsure about it. I loved that it was a big campus and the feeling of that however that was really as much as I was able to really get on the tour. The information session was filled with parents who didn’t understand what a 75% acceptance rate means and then the tour was just us looking at buildings. I would love to learn more about the opportunities available there such as internships or do they own a forest (it’s a thing a lot of Oregon schools have) So we will see what happens with that.
Oregon State University- this school on face value seems pretty great however it didn’t fit me. The idea I had of an Oregon school wasn’t OSU, OSU was brick and pavement and not that green. Also, I’m a moderately active person I want to exercise in college but it’s not a defining piece of my personality, when walking in the OSU gym the “bro” atmosphere was so intense that I couldn’t see myself wanting to go work out there. I did enjoy the honors college program offered at OSU however that was not enough to keep it on my list.
Southern Oregon University- the thing I worried about in a lot of Oregon schools was seasonal depression, but here I was worried about normal depression, the school and the people at it both seemed to be stuck in the past. Even when I was told I qualified for tuition under $3,000 I couldn’t genuinely consider it. I hated it.
