College Transcript

Hey guys,
I am currently enrolled in a private college, I am a sophomore and I want to transfer to a SUNY in spring 2018. My overall gpa is 1.75, the college I attend now is better than the college I want to transfer to. However, I partied a lot and did stupid decisions that I really regret. The SUNY school I want to transfer to requires a minimum of 2.5 gpa and the college I attend is expensive and my parents aren’t going to pay anymore. SUNY are now free if you work 4 years in New York. So I applied but they need my transcript. I got my friend transcript, he has a 3.2 gpa and we are both in the same feild. I know that many people write fake transcripts and such, but if I edit my friends transcript and put my name in it and send to the college, would I get caught. I know you guys wouldn’t condon it but I don’t think they would know. It’s not like I changed it to a 4.0 gpa or applying to iv league school. Can someone tell me the risks or how the process work. Talk to me nice please!

Don’t even consider doing this! Seriously…Don’t. You obviously know it’s dishonest which is why it’s even more scary that you would even consider doing this. You will get caught. It’s not an “if” it’s a “when.” And… do you really want the drag your friend into this? I’m fairly certain that the transcript from your private college has to be an official transcript from the bursar’s office. A college is not going to accept any old piece of paper. Rededicate yourself by attending a community college and get your grades up. Then you can transfer to a four year school. There are no short cuts in life. You’ve made poor choices and now you have to deal with the repercussions.

^ This.

^^A situation you don’t want to end up in. A lot of community colleges have deals with SUNYs that you get accepted if you maintain a certain GPA.

Thank you so much, I am not going to do it. I agree 100% that there isn’t any shortcuts in life. Therefore, I am going to take out a loan to pay for my spring semester 2018, I will study my ass of, and the goal is to reach 3.5 gpa or higher. Do you think if I get 3.5 or higher, would my overall gpa be above 2.5? Also any suggestions on how to keep focus and reach my goal? If I achieve that, I would transfer fall 2018 in y junior year. Do you think that’s a smart decision?

A 3.5 is only a 2.2. There’s really no way for you to get up that much in one semester.

Not even not even if I took summer classes

Wow, that’s my tax money you’re spending!!! It’s not “free”-- it’s being paid for by the tax payers of New York State. And I’ll be paying for your college, as well for my own kids’, since we don’t qualify for the Excelsior Scholarship… both my husband and I work full time.

Please don’t waste my money. I work far too hard for it.

If you commit fraud, it will cost us even more money to catch up with you – and they will.

It doesn’t matter that your old college is “better” than the one you’re hoping to attend-- a student who earns a 1.75 is still a student who earns a 1.75.

Would you consider a gap year or two while you mature a bit? Not everyone is ready for college straight out of high school. Your GPA, combined with the very idea of committing fraud, seems to imply that perhaps you could use a year or two of work in “the real world” to help you grow up.

As to your plan of attending for another year before transferring-- are both your current school and your parents going to be on board with that?

^^ Forgot to add: if you’re currently attending an expensive private college, the odds are probably decent that you won’t qualify for the Excelsior Scholarship either. Here are the requirements. I’ve added asterisks for the financial elligibility part:
