I've been accepted to UIUC LSA as a actuarial science major. but i am still not sure if i want to do actuarial science or accounting. so if i change my mind and want to do accounting in my sophomore year, is it hard to transfer from LSA to Buz College? whats their requirement? do they look back at my ACT/SAT?
thank you

Business is difficult to transfer into. A UIUC student gets one shot to transfer into business, at end of first year into second year, you apply in May and decision is made in June after all first year grades are in. If rejected you can never apply again. You should assume you probably need at least 3.4 first year GPA to be realistically considered but higher is better. They base transfer decision on holistic review which considers grades, high school and test scores, leadership qualities, essays, etc and having a 4.0 GPA does not assure transfer. Last year, they admitted about 45% of those who requested transfer into business from other colleges. To transfer, you must complete business math requirement (if you have a calculus course you would generally meet it), the first two Econ courses, and recommended you complete any writing course and language requirements.

thanks!!!!!!

do you know what the avg GPA for transferring into engineering is?

what about major something at LAS, and then minor another thing at Biz college in sophomore year? is it duable?

Getting a minor in a business area is fairly easy to do assuming you can fit it into the schedule you already have relating to your major. College approvals are needed but are readily given.

As to engineering, you can attempt to transfer from another UIUC college either at end of first year or second (and until this year most majors accepted only second year transfers). In past when it was second year transfer there has usually been a specified minimum GPA ranging from 3.0 to 3.2 (it can change from year to year), which gets you considered but you could need higher depending on major (a lot simply depends on seats open and number who apply for them and for things like electrical or computer engineering or computer science, you should assume you need higher because those usually have higher demand for transfer). You also have to meet course requirements in math, chem, physics and rhetoric. In any event, it is easier to transfer into engineering than business mainly because it loses more students freshman and sophomore years than business and thus has more seats to fill via transfer.
