Ok so I'm going this weekend to do an overnight visit at Swarthmore College. It says on the website to bring a sleeping bag, but what about towels? I would assume I need to bring my own? This is probably a really stupid question but I don't want to be without/pack them unnecessarily.

I'd say bring your own...even if they offer them (which I highly doubt), I don't know if I'd want to use them. :p

yes, better safe than sorry--it's not like you have to pack a whole bathroom set, just bring a beach towel or something.

Oh wow, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy:

[quote]
A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta
wet it for use in hand-to-hand combat
wrap it around your head to ward off noxious fumes
any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it
win through, and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Ok thanks. :)

Awww, my boyfriend quoted those lines from the Hitchhiker's Guide when I begged him not to pack towels for our trip to Montana to stay with my family. He insisted on bringing them (he has seen too many bad movies and was under the impression that Montana is a rugged, lawless land without modern conveniences).

If you've read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, somebody asking you whether or not they need a towel is like a gift. Another excerpt:
[quote]
This is Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace Planning Council,' the voice continued. 'As you will no doubt be aware, the plans for development of the outlying regions of the Galaxy require the building of a hyperspatial express route through your star system, and regrettably your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you.'

I'm cutting and pasting these, by the way. Don't think I have time to type this stuff.

Hitchhiker's Guide for those who haven't read it is pretty much like these quotes from cover to cover. It is very episodic. In that sense, it is like "Catch 22". Enjoy.
