Its reasonable to say that interviews will help, but does it hurt? I mean if it helps the person who takes interviews, than doesn't that hurt the ones who don't??

For college visits, I heard some ppl say that colleges dont even keep account of who visits because they dont want to hold it against non-visitors. Due to my current circumstances, I cannot visit most of the schools.

For example would Uchicago or Uwashington in st.louis care if a student in California or Massachuetts visited???

bump. I really need some advice here plz

There is no universal answer. Some top schools don’t track demonstrated interest, and say so right on their admission pages. Stanford, Harvard, and similar schools know that everyone they accept is going to give serious consideration to the offer. On the other hand, schools like WUSTL are considered by many to screen based on demonstrated interest and even whether they think you’ll be accepted somewhere more highly ranked (although they deny they do this). Some schools actually say on their website they take interest into account.

But even if you can’t visit you can still demonstrate interest in many ways. If they send a rep to a college fair in your area, be sure to attend and sign their list. Do the alumni interview in your area. Write the admissions office for info on areas that are of interest to you.
