Ill soon be embarking on college visits. Since there are so many colleges to visit, I thought its a good idea to learn from those that have already done it. Those that have visited colleges, your input please. Limit to USNews top 50 colleges and top 20 LACs as we are on CC. Thanks.

Last time I checked it’s called “College Confidential”, not “US News Top 50 National University Confidential.”

I haven’t visited anywhere yet, but I’ll probably visit Case Western soon. But I don’t want to go there because it’s too close and according to the esteemed US News rankings Ohio State has a better math department.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill:
Likes:
*Calm and beautiful campus.
*One of the best schools within North Carolina.
*Low tuition.
*Student body mostly cute girls.
*Friendly people.
*Great reputation.
*Excellent alumni network.
*Several research and internship opportunities.

Dislikes:
*Not as STEM-oriented as schools such as Georgia Tech.
*Great, but not top school.

Darn, I can only comment on Boston College. That’s the only one that makes it. NU and BU miss the mark by a few points obvious failure schools

Likes:
Beautiful campus
People seemed nice when I went
Great academics
From what I got, they have a really good alumni network and potential internship/job set ups

Dislike:
I feel like it’s pretty secluded, to be honest. Even though it’s called “Boston College”, it’s a hassle to actually get into Boston, IMO. I’m more into the urban type of school

Likes:
Beautiful campus, really feels removed from the city but still in an urban environment
Pretty flexible with the majors they offer, lots of interdisciplinary opportunities
Generous with financial aid (from what I’m told)
Dorms looked new and awesome

Dislikes:
Required to live on campus for all 4 years (don’t know if this is standard or not)
Doesn’t take very much AP/Dual enrollment credit (similar to other top schools)

Overall, I was extremely happy with Vanderbilt. It’s definitely one of my top choices now!
