I am within the top 10% of my high school so I have automatic admission into Texas state schools. Currently the only schools I am considering and have visited are UT Austin and UT Dallas. I feel like I should visit more schools but I’m not that interested in anything else. Should I visit more schools?
No reason to if you are happy with your choices and can afford them. The grass will always be greener.
Ut Austin is a dream school for many. If you love it there. Look no further is you have a guaranteed spot.
Don’t you have to be top 6% for auto-admit to UT?
like @Muad_dib said, make sure you understand how UT auto admit works. Are you in the top 6% of your class, as that is what you need for UT Austin? It wouldseem for other UTs that Top 10% is fine.

Automatic Admission
Texas law offers eligible freshman applicants automatic admission to public colleges and universities. The initial legislation, passed into law in 1997, offered automatic admission to eligible students in the top 10 percent of their high school class.
In 2009, the law was modified for The University of Texas at Austin. Under the new law, the university must automatically admit enough students to fill 75 percent of available Texas resident spaces. Each fall, the university notifies Texas school officials of the class rank that current high school juniors need to attain by the end of their junior year in order to be automatically admitted.
Summer/Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 applicants: Top 7%
Summer/Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 applicants: Top 7%
Summer/Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 applicants: Top 6%
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board establishes the rules that govern which students are eligible for automatic admission.
Even applications from students who are automatically admissible are subject to holistic review to determine the major to which the applicant will be admitted.
For Austin, yes, but not for Dallas. However, OP did not specify where within the top 10% s/he is. I assumed s/he understands the cutoff when s/he said “I have automatic admission into Texas state schools.”
Yes I am in the top 6%, I don’t know why I put 10%. Thanks for the information though
