Do most colleges require you to schedule a visit, or do most let you just walk in?

Check with each college esp. on thier website. The only school I had to schedule was for UT-austin. I walked in at Rice and Georgia Tech. Or simply call the office of admissions.

it's not like they're gonna kick you off campus if you show up. they just don't want tons of people to be showing up all over the place, so they recommend that you call just for their own personal sanity.

If you are planning on visiting the school anyway, call ahead and let them know you are coming. It will be to your benefit. However, if it is a no notice visit. That is fine as well. At most schools, no-notice visitors may still go on tours and such. In fact, I cannot think of a single school that would not extend you this courtesy. I visited 40 colleges and universities during my selection process and found that, while notifying the school ahead of time was best and did tend to make my visits more interesting and helpful in my decision, no-notice visits still provided me with a good feel for the campus.

Jesus Christ, FORTY?

did you apply to all forty?
