Straight to the point, i'm in high school and want to get into an ivy league university. I have good grades and can expect a higher then 4.0 GPA, so grades aren't a problem. However, im no Beethoven, or Shaq, so i guess its extracurriculars for me. More specifically, volunteering. I want to be a doctor so i'm planning to volunteer at hospitals and nursing homes. Although i just found about a volunteering abroad program, and it has nothing to do with medicine, but its really helpful, and i want to immerse myself with other cultures and help others. Unfortunately i read that colleges don't want people who do this one-off volunteer things. And if you tell them about your volunteering, they think your not in it for real. So i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Should i not go abroad and just continue with the medical volunteering, or go abroad and risk colleges thinking i'm just volunteering to stack my resume?
