College Wait list Problem

I’ve been waitlisted at my top priority school, and I’ve been accepted to everywhere else.

This school has specific tiers in their waitlist and I’ve been notified that I’m among the top tier waitlist- and that in most cases this tier has been accepted.

What I’m worried about is submitting my deposit to my 2nd choice school if things don’t work out.
The deadline for the deposit is May 1st, but my 1st choice school said that they should be letting people know around the first week of May.

If I submit my deposit to my 2nd pick school and get accepted to my 1st pick, can I just enroll to that school? I don’t care if I’m wasting the deposit to the 2nd pick. I just want to know if there are any legal issues or enrollment problems if I just don’t take any actions after submitting a deposit.

Submit your deposit to your 2nd choice school. If you are admitted off the waitlist, you decline your 2nd choice, lose the deposit and enroll in your 1st choice. Simple.and no legal issues.

As of May 1st, submit your deposit to the school you were admitted to. If you get off the waitlist, inform that school you will not be attending (you may lose your deposit).

The only thing you can’t do is put deposits down on two schools.

Except when admitted off a waitlist!

Yeah, but you do need to notify school

1 as soon as you accept your waitlist spot from school #2.
