"I applied undeclared and I still got an invite to honors."
Sunkist, me too. Are you going?

I want to wait and see where else I get in because I would have to miss school. Therefore, I'm only going to go if I'm considering to go to UCLA.

I have spring break then (4/9-4/17), and since it's one of my top 3 choices, I'll most likely go.
Can anyone relate his/her experiences on what to expect there?

I got reg. welcome day too. I'm going on 4/8. Does everyone else who didn't get a college welcome invite get honors? I have a friend who's all confused because I was invited and she wasn't. Her acceptance letter is missing the whole paragraph and link about college welcome.

"Feel confident that among this group of remarkable students, you are one of the most distinguished. Because of the quality of your scholarship and your contributions to your community, we are pleased to invite you to attend UCLA's College Honors Day. "

I don't think it's just based on stats or rank, but on other factors too. I have a 1390 SAT, and am definitely not in the top 3% in my class (plus, my school doesn't rank, but if it did I'm definitely not in that bracket.)

I'm going to the one on april 12th.

I'm going to Honors Day on the 12th. I looked at the itinerary and basically there's some sessions to get to know UCLA and the faculty, and tours.

April 12 for me too :)

No, the honors invite is based on stats or rank. You can qualify in two ways: minimum gpa and sat score or top 3% of class.

You don't need to be invited for honors to apply- the application will be up on a public url address and if you meet the qualifications (either by rank, or gpa and sat score), you can apply regardless of wheter you're given an invitation (unless you're an engineer which doesn't have an honors program and maybe some of the other specialized majors, not sure about latter). And I'm pretty sure anyone who meets the qualification and applies will get into the honors program.

"I want to wait and see where else I get in because I would have to miss school. Therefore, I'm only going to go if I'm considering to go to UCLA."
Right, I am apprehensive about committing myself to too many things too, ... at least before knowing what's up in general. All these events seem to be scheduled around the same time anyway, so I'm waiting to decide too.

Just curious, where else are you waiting for _jc?

it's $20(nonrefundable) if you take one parent. i think it's worth RSVPing just in case you aren't accepted to your top choice school/s.

Hey sunkist184 - really just waiting for Harvard and Cornell. I applied to Yale and Stanford too, but I have made myself immune to whatever the decision may be from there. Just weird how you meet people at events, and hear them brag how they lied on their apps to either Yale or Stanford, and still got accepted EA. Did something to me, so I'll wait and see, but it's mainly figuring out if I'll even go to the East Coast in April.

Same here. In the end, I'm really hoping to go to the East Coast, but it depends where I get in there. Most of the schools I've applied are on the East Coast. So maybe we'll both end up there.

Sunkist, good luck:) Yeah, maybe we both will. I really liked my Cornell interviewer. We met at a Barnes and Noble, and we must have sat there for 3 hrs or more. Was so awesome. She told me the whole story about Stanford and Cornell, and hearing her describe her experiences at Cornell was major. My Harvard interviewer was great too. Actually, he emailed me after that, so that was cool. I won't get my hopes up though.
Hey sunkist, good luck!

Hey _jc, just curious, but what did the ED yale and stanford kids lie about?

Good luck to you too! I loved my Harvard interview. We talked for like what seemed like an eternity. The best part was talking about Boston because I love Boston and he even grew up there. My Brown interview was awesome as well. He was so interested in what I had to say and kept saying wow. I'm seriously doubting I'm going to get in though.

Hey Littleol me, about EC's. It really disturbed me, because these are the same people who are well known for never showing up at the events I've been involved in myself. They must be legacies or something; anyway, just p... me off. I thought adcoms looked for the real thing, and I guess they obviously don't. Politics all over, lol.

Hey sunkist, I know - my Harvard interviewer was too cool too. I'm with you, as I won't dare to get my hope up because of that. It was an awesome experience though.

Good luck you guys!!!! I feel like I am lost in space. Just trying to convince myself that whatever school I will end up in will be awesome.

April 8th welcome day! Who else is goin'?

is the stuff that happens on welcome day any different than honors day?
