College with an Application Deadline of Aug. 1st?

I'm currently a junior in high school, and I am looking at some colleges.

Most of the colleges application deadline is in the 1st part of the year with priority or early admission at the end of the year.

Western Kentucky University seems to be different though. I have looked all over their admissions website, and their application deadline is August 1st.

My question is 1st of all, is this really the deadline for freshman admission? And if it is, would I have to apply for the college during the summer/very beginning of my senior year? Or would I wait until the end of my senior year to apply? (which makes no sense to me).

I plan on applying early, but I'm not sure when early is. Early as in the summer between my junior and senior year? Or early as in before Christmas my senior year like most colleges?

Here is the website, the deadline is at the bottom. WKU Office of Admissions

Thanks!

It looks like WKU has Rolling Admissions with the final application date for Fall Semester set as August 1. That means that if you want to study there THIS YEAR, you would still have four and a half months to get your application together.

If you want to start in Fall 2012, you can apply anytime after that. You should get in touch with their admissions office, and ask about when to apply. Find out if there are any special benefits to applying earlier in the 2011-2012 school year. Sometimes specific scholarships have early application dates, and often students who apply early get priority for housing assignments.

Good luck with everything!
