Hi I'm a rising senior and I've been looking at colleges...I've been using the "admissions" section on collegeboard.com quite a bit. How accurate is the part that lists the "very important" admissions factors, the "important" factors, and the "considered" factors?

for example:
College Search - Brown University - Brown - Admission

and if they are accurate, how come I don't see "academic GPA" as a factor anywhere on the admissions section for Brown?

I wouldn't completely trust college board. I think that some of the profiles are incomplete like, for example, does not have any AP information, but the school does take credits, etc. You would be better off just going to the Brown website and looking it up there.

Agreed. But try looking at princetonreview; I think they're slightly better about reporting college info/stats.

thanks I was kinda skeptical...I'll check out princetonreview
bump.

Their admission rates are outdated - NYU's and Vanderbilt's for instance, are actually about 10-15% lower than what's reported on the website

You could try looking at what Brown says about it. They prefer not to lock themselves into a set formula so they have the freedom to evaluate each applicant as an individual:
Brown Admission: Admission Criteria
They also provide detailed statistics so you can estimate how you compare to the individuals they accepted:
Brown Admission: Facts & Figures
Good luck!
