Hi! I am a student from Canada and submitted my CSS profile awhile ago. Now, I am completing IDOC forms, and they want a SSN (or else no "accurate and timely processing" in their words). I don't have an SSN, and I don't know what to do? Leave the SSN blank? Gosh, Collegeboard and their overgeneralized system is gonna kill me. Thanks for your thoughts.

Oh, and also... do non-US students have to complete Verification worksheets (I read that they are required before U.S. federal aid is given. So, since I can't get gov't money, I don't need to fill it out?? Many thanks for your opinions.

If this is your first year, please know it is by far the hardest. As you figure out each twist, make notes to yourself so you won’t fight the same battle next year.

“Verification” worksheets will vary by college. You need to contact each college directly to learn what they want. Don’t wait – some deadlines are very early.

It is easier once you are only keeping one college happy and you have a template that you used successfully from the previous year (ie, copy everything before you mail it off).
