Collegeboard potential flagging? Please help!

My friend is in a dilemma!
His JUNE sat score is a CR: 400 M: 680 W: 410 -> 1490
His OCTOBER sat score is a CR: 500 M: 630 W: 550 -> 1630
AS OF NOW: His superscore is a 1730

From JUNE -> OCTOBER,
He increased 100 points in CR, (Still 680 in math (SUPERSCORE)), and 140 points in W.

NOW he decides to study for the December SAT and he is expecting a 2150! :o

Predicted Increase for the December SAT:
CR: +230 M: +40-50 W: +120

Composite score 1180 -> 1450 (270 increase)
1730 -> 2120 (390 increase)

WILL COLLEGEBOARD FLAG HIS GRADES? WHAT IS THE MINIMUM INCREASE FOR COLLEGEBOARD TO FLAG? CAN HE GET A 2200 WITHOUT GETTING FLAGGED?

Bumppppppppppp

His score may be flagged for review, but if the CB doesn’t find any evidence of cheating (which, if he doesn’t cheat, the CB shouldn’t), they’ll remove the flag and let the score stand as is.

CB is being super strict since the cheating scandal. He should call CB with his fears - they might be able to take his fingerprints like they do for the LSATs to compare all 3 tests.

How can he be “expecting” a 2150? It seems especially unlikely that he can raise his reading score 230 points. (Perhaps your friend plans to hire someone who can get around 2150 to take the test for him, and that is why he is so worried about getting flagged? :wink: )

wow, never thought of that atmom! he still is a friend to me, i don’t care if he does that, will he be safe though increasing his score by 390 points?
answer if he wasn’t doing that and he was a honest person. which i doubt now.

If he isn’t cheating there should be no evidence of cheating, so he should be OK.

I’ve been doing test prep for quite a few years and want to know what study program he is using to raise his reading score from 400 in June to (“predicted”) 730 in December. IMO, a 400 point overall gain from Oct. to Dec. (after a 140 point gain from June-Oct) is going to raise eyebrows with CB–if not flags!

My students experience increases like this with some frequency. He’ll certainly be flagged, which will delay score reporting for a month (maybe six weeks), but then they’ll be forwarded on to colleges (unless evidence of cheating is discovered, of course).

Nothing serious to worry about as long as the scores are legit.

what if hes taking the SAT in december!!

Okay stop this ‘friend’ bs. It is quite obvious that you are talking about YOURSELF. It is also quite obvious that you plan on CHEATING by hiring someone to take the test for you. I cannot wait for you to get caught like those other students and get put in JAIL. At that point, your artificial score increase will no longer matter (:

If it goes up gradually over the course of a year or year and a half with repeated testing, it would be okay. But a one time jump…no way it isn’t going to get flagged.

■■■■■ wow, sure i am.

I hate this whole score flagging thing. All because of those students from NJ who got caught cheating, CB has been vamping up their score checking security, so persons who genuinely get an increase of 250+ in one sitting, may have their scores delayed.

I understand that CB was embarrassed by this whole fiasco, but i mean they’ve gone mad now, getting suspicious at almost every score increase.

The flagging thing did not not start because of those particular cheaters. It has been going on for a while. They only are suspicious of abnormal score increases. If you don’t cheat, then you’re fine.
