obviously there are going to be errors.. theres nothing that is perfect ALL of the time. if the mistakes are corrected.. then why is it such a big deal? of course it is frustrating and annoying, but the fact remains that the SAT is a large part of college admissions and we have to deal with what we're given.

In my honest opinion, I think the SAT is a decent standarized test. It does a decent job of testing an individual's general math and English abilities. I can understand that people are bitter since a test that takes only 4 hours is worth so much, but it is the only way to objectively measure one's ability in general math and English against anothers. I seriously do not understand why people call the SAT an unfair test.

So what if it is an "IQ" test? People with higher IQs and more preparation tend to do better on ALL TESTS, not just the SAT. I think the SAT is just simply getting blamed because it is the most popular test. Once the ACT gets as popular, it will suffer the same criticism despite its claims of being "curriculum-based".

Bitterness over the SAT itself problably leads people to make hasty decisions regarding the test and its 'credibility', if such a thing even needs to exist. The result is probably all of these allegations regarding its usefuleness--allegations made in vain unless backed with action.

actually they screw up a lot. I have a lot of friends who have had tests regraded and their scores are sometimes 100 points different. It's great that they have the regrading system, but it seems like a scam that they take 50 dollars from you so that you recieve the score you deserve. ( I should say though that most of my friends with scoring screw ups had problems with the sat and had most of the problems with the sat IIs.) Anyway, I understand how important these tests can be and although we do need a way of comparing high school students across the nation/world it's still important to do it in a fair way. True, every system has flaws, but I know so many people who have had score problems/changes way before the whole October SAT mistake. Also, I know so many people who have cheated their way to a higher score. Cheating is human nature, but in some circumstances, collegeboard has made it a little too easy to cheat and the wrong people are being rewarded with high SAT scores.
