collegeboard won't let me sign up for the SAT

I can’t get past the first part of the registration process because it keeps telling me to enter a registration number from when i have previously taken the test, even though I’ve never registered for or taken the SAT. Is there some way to fix this? I called customer service but they just said it was a glitch and I should wait a while and try again. However, that was a couple weeks ago and it’s still not working. Should I just create a new account? I don’t think it would do any damage since all I’ve used my account for so far is the PSAT and colleges don’t even see that, but I’m still not sure if I should do that since collegeboard is pretty insistent that people only use one account.

Have you tried using the number from the PSAT?

Do you know where I could find that? My school signed me up for it so I don’t think I ever got a registration number.

Maybe on your score report?

I just registered for it yesterday. In the very beginning it asks if you have ever taken the SAT before in the past, are you sure you checked “no” for that?

Yeah I checked no and it told me that their records showed that I have taken it before.

My PSAT registration number isn’t on the online score report and I have no idea where the paper copy is, since I took it a while ago, and I don’t have the score report for my junior year PSAT yet.

You have my sympathies. I think you need to get back to customer service with this information. It looks like it’s not a “glitch” but a case of forgotten/misplaced registration information. Have as much information available as possible when you call: when you took (or might have taken) the PSAT the first time; social security number; score (if you remember it). These are all things that can establish your credentials and show that you are not trying to game the system but need your old number or a reset. Best of luck, ATS

I’ll call customer service tomorrow, since they’re closed on weekends. Thanks for all the help!
