collegeconfidential - the destroyer of dreams

CC is my guidance counselor as well. My actual one doesn’t really know much.

and you didn’t site your source for that quote

it belongs to me

I guess you guys are right…CC is just people full of tough love

And sorry Pokeperson…

this quote was said by Pokeperson NOT me

Because CC is life. No one will baby you, welcome to the real world. Its a pain in the ass.

Would you rather people just tell you BS about how of course you can do whatever you set your mind too even if it there is basically a 100% chance that you can’t get into harvard? That’s the problem with our generation we got way too many participation awards when we were kids and we expect that thats how life works. Guess what. It doesn’t.

Well, I like to think of myself as helpful, if not usually nice.

But I’m also very sarcastic and devilish sometimes. >=D

it’s porkperson.

You do recognize where you want to apply, right? They’re not exactly Arizona State here.
These are schools where thousands apply, and a majority get rejected.

URM status is overrated. Welcome to the real world. Not the destroyer of dreams, the harbinger of reality.

Truth is, you’re not mature enough.
Truth is, there are thousands of applicants better than quite frankly a *ty transcript and a better overall application that get rejected. So get your * together if you want to be serious.

I’m just being honest.
Why don’t you actually listen? You might think this is being a jerk, but open up your mind.

CC didn’t destroy my dreams even though it gave me some more reality to what I wasn’t able to do but it made me realize how many nobodies were here. Everyone just wants stats, things to show that they are good enough for the school, and the reality is that dreams are reality regardless of what anyone says.
I met someone today who made me believe my words that numbers do not matter at all and that’s the truth. If you have dreams of doing big things you have achieved more than what 90% of the people in CC has. They might want to attend amazing universities and write essays on stupid things like “electromagnetic fields” but they however forgot that truly they don’t matter, the world does.

^ well summarized,

I haven’t looked at that thread yet, but if you can’t deal with anything here than how have you been surviving thus far in the real world? If you don’t stick to your dreams because some people were being very frank, then you’re the one who’s destroying your own dreams. Go for your dreams, and if you don’t, remember that saying CC destroyed your dreams is a poor excuse.

You can always work hard in your first two years, and transfer. . .not necessarily in a cc. . .

The people on this forum are nicely blunt. To be quite frank, I’d rather have it that way, especially when I ask personal and pressing questions that I need blunt answers to. There’s no BS here!
