I’ve read quite a bit lately about some colleges not considering 9th grade courses/gpa. My son is taking an AP class now(over the summer) and will have the opportunity to then take another AP course. The question is then should he just wait so it appears on his sophomore record or are AP classes considered differently?
If your son takes an AP class freshman year, they’ll see it. They might not use it when re-calculating GPA, but they’ll take the rigor and dedication into account.
Agree with the above post, GPA doesn’t matter quite as much as you think it does. A 3.9 vs a 3.2 may make a difference but a 3.9 vs a 3.8 will not

Statistically this is not true. GPA aside however, would he be better off waiting for 10th then ? How would rigor come into play taking another AP in 9th vs 10th say?
