Colleges are coming to my area!

So the other day I got an email which said that I am invited to a Joint Information Session for Brown, Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, and Rice. Several of these colleges I am very interested in. Is it a good idea to go to this? If so, how important is it, and what will be expected of me?

In particular, I'm wondering if this will be a casual event with college representatives speaking to a large audience the whole time, or if it will be more personal.

Thanks

By the way, I'm a junior in high school.

I think it'd be a good idea to go. I've never gone to one even though I've had opportunities before. It's important in the sense that you get a better understanding of the school without having to visit or dig through the website.

It'll most likely be college representatives speaking to a large audience.

Ok, but would it look good to go because it shows that I'm interested?
Also, should I dress up or anything?
If I am so inclined, wil I be able to talk to representatives one on one?

Info sessions are, like AlbusSeverus (haha) said, generally a college rep talking to a large audience. I doubt going will "show interest" or do anything that could help you out in the application process.

After the info session, I'm sure you'll be able to talk to the reps. Usually how it works. If your so inclined, you can "dress up," but it's definitely not mandatory. You cannot be worried about impressing them; they won't remember you lol. Jeans/slacks and a polo is fine. haha

I hope you get to talk to the representatives, so they can tell you in person how much of a prick you are. I can't wait until admissions season for you because I'll be happy just to know that you got rejected from every single ivy you applied to. :D

Let me redirect everyone's attention to this thread of all-ivy's - particularly the last page where his jackassery shines through.

Signing up but not going would probably look bad though, right?

aia: it's an information fair. No one is tracking you whatsoever. You'll be there w/100s of other kids and their parents. What's expected of you? To listen and see if the school is right for you. Go to learn or stay home. Decide already but don't stew in your anxiety.
