Colleges by Myers Briggs Personality Type (???)

Anyone want to help compile a list of colleges by personality type, and then maybe we could make a reference website. I think that the Myers Briggs can be extremely revealing, and if certain personality types are attracted to certain schools thats really interesting and it could help people add to their lists. I know there are sites like this out already, but most of them are influenced ($$$$). I guess the best way to do this is find out your personality type list the colleges you go to or really love and if someone else has the same personality type and the same college then it goes on the list (if there is a better way let me know). Please take an actual test if you want to help with this https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test. Wouldn’t it be interesting to know if certain people are attracted to different things?

@marvin100 Good to know you don’t like fun!!!

While MBTI isn’t my kind of fun, I have no problem with others using it that way. Anyone who uses it to learn anything real and meaningful, however, is misguided, and it’s certainly (my kind of) good, clean fun to disabuse people of their misapprehensions!(!!, etc.)

INFP: Any liberal arts college.
INFJ: Psychology major. What’s a good psychology school? I don’t know.
ENFJ: (see above)
INTJ: Any elite school that has top-quality STEM programs. MIT, Princeton, Stanford, etc. Basically, any college that can validate their superiority complexes.
ENTJ: The best option for an ENTJ…is to not go to college. They should forget about college, and start their entrepreneurial careers right away.

ENTP: Schools that have good engineering/science programs. Also, it’s crucial that the college has a large percentage of students who are simultaneously extroverted and socially awkward. So, MIT maybe? Caltech? Georgia Tech?
INTP: The INTP is interested in one thing, and one thing only: computer science ranking. It does not care about a college’s social scene. It does not care about a college’s location. Carnegie Mellon is the clear winner here.
ESFJ: Any college that has a large, but healthy social scene. UCLA comes to mind first.
ESFP: Any college where the ESFP can consume an inordinate amount of alcohol, smoke weed, not study, and copulate with strangers on a daily basis. I say CU Boulder, but the University of Arizona is also a good option.
ISFJ: If female, then an all-womens-school. Because they’re all goody good and stuff. If male, then I’m not sure.
ISFP: Cornell, because the scenery will make them happy.
ESTJ: They’re going to be CEOs eventually, so it doesn’t matter. It’s not like they would care, anyway.
ESTP: I would recommend trade school instead of college.
ISTJ: Carnegie Mellon. CMU has a really good IT program.
ISTP: Trade school, like ESTPs.

I don’t think you can completely categorize colleges by a type of student because most of them are quite diverse, but I have felt very comfortable as an INFP at William & Mary and have found a surprisingly good amount of them here. Other colleges that appealed to me were smaller colleges with more interaction with faculty or colleges that had an element of creativity involved (written evaluations, open curriculum, self designing your own studies, or options to engage in your own research). I think this is a really interesting and creative concept though.

@Nevets04 @intparent I appreciate your responses! I will compile the list/ website when I get more helpful responses like yours!

@shawnspencer what I’ve noticed as an INTJ is I was talking to a few friends with similar personality types and we liked the same schools and my friend whose an ENFP has a friend that has her personality type that’s looking at the same schools as her so I just wanted to see if there any truth to it! And thanks for your response

Also this is not meant to be an end all be all for colleges but if someone can see this and get an IDEA then that’s always good!

@collegeguru2017 I totally get that! My best friend and I ended up applying to many of the same schools, partially because I think we had similar personality types. I think there might definitely be something there with the introvert-extrovert and the bigger-smaller school thing. Or major choices and location of school, so it would be interesting to see if there was a trend between the personality type and schools that people are most interested in.

Zuh? “goody good and stuff”? Ugh.

This is little more than an exercise in minuscule sample sizes and half-cocked stereotyping.

@marvin100 don’t like the conversation? UNBOOKMARK it, omg…

(Says the poster who can’t resist replying to my comments that he doesn’t like OMG)

Honestly, I’m curious about what @Nevets04 meant by that (possibly pretty offensive, almost certainly misguided) characterization.

I have to agree with @marvin100 – that comment certainly has a misogynistic ring to it. I don’t mind playing the game, but that comment disturbs me.

@intparent I agree, but the constant comments by marvin100 is annoying. and i also disagree with the OP who posted that because that was not the intention of this thread. The intention was for people to just take the fun quiz and comment schools they like to see if there was a similarity people who take it that far and judge others like marvin100 and Nevets are the ones who have made this thread a hot mess.

It is the Internet.

I think it might be more of what majors/jobs do the different Types like…and then matching the school.
I agree that INTJs like the STEM schools…I am INTJ and went to CWRU…but so did my ESFJ husband…but he went to the business school in CWRU.
