Colleges & FL Credits?

I just realized that I might not have enough Foreign Language credits that colleges need because my school is literally retarded. My school is 7-12. You take an intro class in your language in 7th grade, and then start at Level 1 or 1A in the 8th grade.

Obviously the 8th grade course doesn't go on my college transcript, and I only took the class in 9th and 10th grade (Levels 2A, and 3A). Because of lack of interest in the program, they cut the Level 4 Italian. While other languages go up to 4 then AP, Italian you make the straight jump from 3 to AP, even though 3A is roughly equivalent to Level 4. Sadly AP Italian could not fit in my schedule this year (Literally couldn't. There's a lab requirement for my Physics class and I couldn't get around it), and it won't be offered next year.

Should I request, as a senior, going into a higher level Spanish or French (3A/4A) to fulfill requirements or would schools generally understand this? I'm just nervous because most want 3/4 FL credits and I have 2 despite taking 4 years of Italian and even getting a perfect score on my state test in it.

Also I know Spanish is close to Italian words wise but apparently French is close to Italian grammatically? But still I don't know which class to go into if I do.

It’s okay if you took your first year of foreign language in middle school; they care about the level you’ve reached and not the number of high school classes you took. If you’ve reached the highest level offered at your school, you’re fine.
