Hello, I am looking for colleges that will really prepare me and help set up connections for a life as a working actor. Preferably schools in Chicago or New York. I want to get a BFA in acting (NOT MT I CAN’T DANCE!). I’m currently looking into DePaul, but would appreciate other suggestions!

My son’s an acting major at CCPA Roosevelt in Chicago and seems to be doing pretty well. You do have to take ballet freshman year, but you’ll be in a class with other acting majors and it won’t kill you.
Look into CCM Drama. Not in one of those major cities, but if you wanna focus on training and connections, it’s one of the best places to be! We have some new faculty this year from the Guthrie theatre and elsewhere, excellent connections to LA and NY, and our program has a fantastic reputation in Chicago! Definitely a school that is getting solidified as a top. Was just ranked #12 on the Hollywood Reporters newest list!
I’m currently in the BFA at Northern Illinois University, our campus is about an hour from Chicago, and our Faculty have a lot of Chicago connections. On of our teachers is actually a Chicago casting agent.
Our whole last year of training is focused on getting ready for the acting business, part of our curriculum requires us to audition for shows in the city and we all get new headshot and a video reel before we graduate. At the end of our senior year we have a showcase for Chicago Agents.
