Colleges for int'l students

Hey,
My stats are as follows:

SAT: 1270 (Cr+M) old
10th Grade: 88%
12th Grade: 70%

ECs: various Quiz competitions ( Like the Quiz Bowl) National and Regional.
A couple of pending patents
Winner of international innovation contest.

Family can afford roughly 6k USD per annum. (coa, including room and board, or university apartments, or any living arrangement)
Last year was accepted to around 14 schools with scholarships, including ISU, UMass-Amherst, Col State, U Miami

Couldn’t attend due to finances.

Currently in the midst of a gap year.

Want to major in Mech/EE.

I implore you guys to suggest me suitable schools whose deadlines haven’t passed.

Scholarship/Co-op/any funding option will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

6k is very little by U.S. standard. You may want to explore the opportunities at other countries as well.

You neither have the money nor the stats to make this scenario work for you. Internationals seeking merit have the hardest time, even with great stats. You got admitted last year and couldn’t make the math work.

Most scholarship applications have passed. Many are given on a first-come/first-served basis. Since you need almost $100% financial aid, you needed to have started researching schools and applying to a wide selection of them several months ago.

I’m afraid the problem is not that you overlooked better opportunities last year. The problem is that big financial aid awards are so limited for international students. Many public universities don’t offer any aid at all to internationals. Schools that offer the best aid are even more selective than the ones that accepted you last year.
