Colleges for Libertarians

We all know of the super liberal schools (Oberlin, Reed, Occidental, etc...) and there are a few top college that lean to the right (the first one I think of is Notre Dame and maybe Pepperdine) but what about Libertarians?

Texas A&M?

My D spent a few weeks at Rose-Hulman last summer at a program where their students were counselors. I have a feeling they would qualify.

Texas A&M is a traditional conservative school, populated by many conservative Christians, members of the ROTC, and conservative rural students.

In Texas, I would guess that SMU would be the closest to a Libertarian school. The students are mostly socially liberal and economically conservative.

As for elite national schools, my best guess would be Dartmouth.

Ironically, Reed (which you listed as liberal) would also claim a fair number of libertarian students.

You might try to figure out where Ron Paul had the strongest student support groups a couple of years ago, that could be a tip off.

Colleges in NH are worth a look… Dartmouth, UNH, Plymouth State, etc…

Sounds like what Hillsdale markets itself as.

However, libertarian-leaning students should not be all that hard to find on many college campuses, since most people of “traditional college age” are socially more libertarian than the general adult population. Just find the fiscally more conservative students among them.
