Colleges for my stats? (matches/safeties)

Here's my basic info:
- 3.70 weighted GPA (no idea unweighted)
- IB Diploma
- International student in Thailand. Nationality: Thai/Philippines
- No school ranking
- Average EC's (habitats, tutoring, comm service, etc)

SAT (590 Reading, 730 Math, 560 Writing)

SAT II (600 Physics <planing to="" retake="">, 770 Math)</planing>

Currently have a few reaches (Caltech/Brown) but nothing much on matches/safeties.
I'm interested in Engineering and prefer larger cities/an urban environment.
Btw would Dartmouth be in the "matches" with my stats?

Appreciate any comments/suggestions on the matter! Thanks in advance.

maybe not Dartmouth unless you are planning to retake the SAT and SAT II.
try Fordham, Boston U, Georgia Tech
not so sure of RPI

Yea, my SAT’s are horrible. Planning to retake in Oct.

I did some additional research and found out I have a decent chance at Purdue and Lafayette. What do you think? And which one would be better for a Mechanical Engineering degree.

Thanks for your time.

A degree in Engineering from Purdue will be A LOT better than a degree in Engineering from Lafayette, imho.

The ME Department also have a new addition to their current building.

I also think you have a chance on getting admitted. Try to retake the SAT and raise that Math score even though it’s a 730. Better to be safe than sorry.

Can you afford the tuition/costs at Purdue? For the 2010-2011, the COA is $42,000 and for int’l students you should tack on an additional $1k for mandatory health insurance.

Alright thanks! I registered for the SAT. Hope Purdue has lots of financial aid though. Can’t really afford that high tuition fee.

VERY few schools offer FA to internationals. You may want to look at this site: [Schools Awarding International Financial Aid](Schools Awarding International Financial Aid)
Do you have an in-country safety to attend if finances don’t work out?

My safeties are probably going to be in Australia because I live closer there than the US. Excellent link btw, helped refined my searches a lot. Thanks!
