I got into the following schools: Georgia Southern University, Auburn University, Kennesaw State University, and University of Florida, but I will not attend any of them (going to UCF). They all keep sending me mailed information, addressing me like I am going to enroll in fall 2k17. To stop the mails/emails, should I send each of them an email saying I’m not going to accept, or should I just let them mail/email me until fall comes around and they realize I didn’t accept lol
It’s polite to let the schools know you do not plan on attending. Some make it as easy as logging into their portals and clicking a button.
If you received any scholarship offers you absolutely should let the school know so they can factor that into their aid planning - some schools will turn around and offer that money to other students.
@GSMSTer-I think it’ll be a good idea to let them know now. Every school has a deadline to dcline acceptance but I guess you can either send them a quick email or like @InigoMontoya said, log onto the schools’ portal and click whatever the applicable button may be, @Erin’s Dad-I’m sure @GSMSTer isn’t the only one that has ever applied to (AND GOT ACCEPTED TO) numerous colleges! There are tons of factors you have to consider before making a decision-just look around CC!!!
@GSMSTer : The manner in which the OP has communicated here at CC that he will not be attending the various institutions which are no longer on his/her short list was dismissive to a point of being incredulous that such lowly institutions would ever have any reason to believe OP would ever step foot onto their respective campuses.
What OP wrote: “…but I will not attend any of them …” It is convention to state that one * will not be attending,* suggesting that other options have opened for the applicant, or that the applicant has changed his mind. An astute reader may note the OP’s tone at the outset, and then find later on that the applicant follows that up with,
“addressing me like I am going to enroll in fall 2k17.” Truly, guys, this reads solely as , “As If.”
And then the final blow, “should I just let them mail/email me until fall comes around and they realize I didn’t accept lol.” This reads as the OP intended, “Those stupid clucks.” (Euphemism used so I am not penalized here at CC.)
The level of disdain the OP communicates in this thread is truly not understandable for someone who, in all likelihood, initiated contact with the colleges, and in all certainly, followed through enough with the colleges’ reach outs to have an offer of admission rendered.
The OP began a line of contact with those institutions which gave them every reason to believe continued contact would be welcome. The OP can now dutifully, and in good time, notify the schools that he is respectfully declining the offer of admission.
@JPGator98@MedSciBud UCF, not UF. I assume OP means University of Central Florida, which has rolling admissions. @Waiting2exhale It seems to me you read a lot between the lines of the OP’s admittedly informal wording. At least a couple of universities he is NOT attending are more nationally known than the one he is, so I am not sure what basis there is for a condescending attitude.
" got into the following schools: Georgia Southern University, Auburn University, Kennesaw State University, and University of Florida, but I will not attend any of them (going to UCF)"
@dscottvb - OP mentioned s/he got accepted at UF, but will not be attending. Either a recruited athlete or false info.
@GSMSTer Congrats on your acceptance to UCF! Please log into the other schools portals or send a quick email declining acceptance. If you have submitted other apps and haven’t heard back, you should also pull those apps, this gives other students a spot. Just send admissions an email or decline using the Portal
Calm down, folks! It was most likely a typo. If you look at the 1st line @GSMSTer wrote “I got into the following schools: Georgia Southern University, Auburn University, Kennesaw State University, and University of Florida, but I will not attend any of them (going to UCF).” Most likely meant to type: University of CENTRAL Florida as he/she mentioned going to UCF. Try to address the question: should I respond to the Colleges I got into but will not go? Simple answer: yes. Not necessary to read into everything. Sometimes, we tend to write things that once you’ve re-read it, you say “oops that didn’t come out right.” @GSMSTer seems to have to had things together to get into several colleges- kudos.
