bump ?

Start touring colleges near you - big, small, university, LAC, residential, commuter, urban, rural, etc. to get an idea of what you like/dislike. Talk to your guidance counselor about possible careers.

why don't you give us some stats: GPA, SAT, extracurriculars, etc. so we can help suggest some colleges that would fit for you

^alright, here's some stats:
2250 SAT, 34 ACT
currently Rank 1, GPA UW: 4.0
doing math club, science club, volunteering clubs, 2 sports- xc and track
im interested in engineering, math, physics, biology, etc. lol many options.
Also, I don't want to be isolated. the student population should be pretty large.
ill prob apply to some Ivies, some UC's, are there others i should look out for? like good research universities?
I've heard about Reed, Rice, Vandy, Oberlin from my friend who applied there. What's so good about those colleges?

Perhaps this board may be most useful when you've first done some preliminary work yourself.

If you do some searches on CC, eg "math"; "engineering"; etc. you will find many posts identifying colleges with good programs in these areas. They will also provide data on the student bodies at each school.

If you buy one of the many college guides that are available, you can find other information regarding size, location, etc. And general overviews. I suggest you go to a bookstore and skim a few, then buy one that you think you might find most useful. Or take one out of the library.

Once you've done that, have some idea anyway, you can address many more specific questions here using search. And then, where more clarifiation is desired, ask away.

^alright sounds good. ill go do some outside research first. thanks!
