Hi im a junior and i really want to know about schools i can get into outside of Florida. i have a 3.5 unweighted gpa and a 4.5 weighted gpa ive taken practice sat’s and have scored in the high 1700s and will be taking it in march. So lets just say worst case scenario i score a 1700 what schools fit my stats (I am looking at majoring in economics/statistics)
How much can your parents afford to pay for school each year? A lot depends on whether or not you need aid to pay for school. What part of the country are you interested in?
Get those SAT scores up and a 4.5 weighted GPA will get you into A LOT of places. Also, I’m a high school senior, and i too want to major in stats and econ!
When you say out of state, do you have specific states in mind? Is there a strong, specific reason (ie., LGBT wants to be in a more liberal/gay friendly environment, allergic to humid heat…) or it is because you’d like to see another part of the country (also valid)?
Money is a big aspect. What can you pay for?
There are a tons of school you could get into. What kind of school are you looking for?
@albert69 cant be more than 20k
@schohen99 im not looking for a particular school in fact i want a variety so i can look at all my options i guess a school with a good economics department?
@myoS1634 no not that i want to leave out of state its that i know all the schools in state ill probably end up at a florida public school i just want to know all the schools outside of Florida and not just look at the ones in Florida
I’d suggest that you read a couple of college guide books (ex. Fiske, Princeton Review, Insiders Guide etc.) and see where your stats fit in and what appeals to you. You can also google the USNWR list of universities and LACs to get some ideas. Think about what you can afford as well as things like what you may want to study, what size school you like, locations that interest you, if Greek Life is important, if you want big time sports etc. Additionally, if your SATs don’t go up from your practice exams you can try the ACT and also consider test optional schools.
Look at Susquehanna, Washington&Jefferson, Pace, CUNY Baruch, Loyola and DePaul in Chicago, St Thomas and Augsburg in Minneapolis-St Paul, SLU in St Louis, UPortland in Portland ( ), UPuget Sound and USeattle…
stateuniversity.com publishes a ranking of colleges by 75th percentile SAT M+CR scores.
Schools with 75th percentile combined scores >= 1250 begin on page 16 of their ranking.

Private schools in this range typically cost $40K/year or more. Public schools, at out of state rates, typically cost $30K/year or more. Costs can exceed $50K at some of these schools (e.g. Ithaca College). Few will meet 100% of demonstrated financial need. You can get a cost estimate for any school that interests you by running its online Net Price Calculator.
We ran across a website where you plug in your GPA and test scores I think it was and spit out a list of schools. Somewhere to start I guess. Can’t remember the site though…
Try taking the ACT practice tests and see how your results compare. My daughter did much better on her ACT than SAT. If you score closer to 1950, you will have many more choices.
You can use this site as a reference; http://www.collegesimply.com/guides/1740-on-the-sat/
It’s not the most accurate but it gives you a good idea of what colleges are out there. You should definitely Google what colleges have your scores within their 25th-75th percentiles and go from there. If you get your score up, you have not only more choices but also more scholarship opportunities.
